MOFA supports the Manitoba Federation of Labour in denouncing Bill 16. If passed, this legislation would eliminate binding arbitration, a rule that brings in a neutral arbitrator to settle labour disputes after two months. The alternative, prolonged strikes and lockouts, is bad for the economy, workers and employers.
The Official Opposition has held Bill 16 over until the fall sitting of the legislature.
