The Education Modernization Act (Bill 64)

Jul 12, 2021 | Legislation Tracker

MOFA stands with the Manitoba Teachers’ Society and CUPE education workers in their opposition to this disturbing bill that proposes to eliminate locally elected school trustees, slash school divisions and replace what’s left with much diminished “regional catchment areas,” and centralize decision-making into the hands of unelected political appointees. Children need stable learning environments guided by educational experts, not politicians. MOFA calls on the provincial government to withdraw Bill 64, and restore confidence in our K-12 public education system.
