MOFA stands with MGEU members as they strike at MPI
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Treaty 1 – The Manitoba Organization of Faculty Associations (MOFA) stands in solidarity with the more than 1,700 members of the Manitoba Government and General Employees Union (MGEU) as they continue their strike with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI).
“MOFA recognizes the MPI staff members who have worked to make the crown corporation successful, now walking the picket line everyday to exercise their rights,” said MOFA President Allison McCulloch. “This week marks four years since MPI staff have received a raise. In a post-pandemic world, and with the rise of inflation, MOFA recognizes the need to renegotiate a fair contract for these staff members. As the parties move to conciliation, we hope that an agreement can be achieved in short order,” concluded McCulloch.
The Manitoba Organization of Faculty Associations (MOFA) is comprised of members of faculty associations from Brandon University, Université de Saint-Boniface, University of Manitoba, and the University of Winnipeg representing over 1,600 individual academic staff. MOFA is a proud member of the Canadian Association of University Teachers. We are based on both Treaty 1 and Treaty 2 territories, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
